Sometimes accepting a last minute invitation can result in the experience of a life and that was the case when we got a call from Soundcamp Conditioning to participate in the second annual Afro Fest in Edmonton this year. Not knowing what awaited us, we were pleasantly surprised to see how diverse and eclectic the audience was with faces representing numerous nationalities outside of the continent of Africa not to mention the awesome performances.
One of the most electrifying performances came from Edmonton’s own Masani St. Rose with her captivating West African dance performance early on the Sunday morning as well as Calgary’s own Soundcamp Conditioning stirring things among the masses the previous evening.
The diversity of the crowd; well organized festival layout of the grounds; the quality of the venues that participated in the event; the beauty and talent of the performers from all across the African continent as well as locally; and the energy of the crowd made this event so unforgettable and also, it was a lot of fun!
